Conservation of Populations, Species, and Ecosystems
Social and Cultural Aspects of Conservation
My current research investigates the use of citizen science to create a large-scale zebra mussel monitoring program across several Minnesotan lakes. I hope to answer questions about how and why zebra mussel populations shift in density, abundance, and distribution within a lake. The data collected will help me model zebra mussel occupancy, dispersal dynamics, forecast outbreaks, and bolster future management. I also hope to compare potential water quality and climate trends in Minnesota in relation to zebra mussel reproductive pressure.
